Alat uji Sharp Edge Tester (Uji Tepi Tajam) banyak digunakan diberbagai produk. Khususnya produk mainan anak. Hampir semua produk mainan anak harus lolos uji ini. Prinsip kerja alat ini adalah dengan memutar 360 drajat sebuah as madrel diameter 9,53 ± 0,12 mm  yang ujung mandrel penguji dilapisi dengan isolatif jenis khusus PTFE pada bagian mainan yang di anggap tajam. Jika terjadi robek/belah pada isolasi tadi maka mainan bagian tepi sudut mainan tersebut dianggap tajam.

Tracking Index Test Apparatus. Terjadinya kerusakan setiap bahan isolasi umumnya terjadi baik pada volumenya atau pada permukaannya, atau juga dari keduanya. 

Kerusakan permukaan mungkin timbul dari percikan akibat kelebihan arus tegangan, atau dari degradasi progresif permukaan isolasi oleh percikan api kecil pada area isolasi. Percikan api yang terjadi tersebut adalah hasil dari putus dari film permukaan melakukan kontaminan di isolasi oleh panas dari kebocoran arus yang melewatinya. Panel kontrol dilengkapi dengan trafo auto (variac) bervariasi tegangan di elektroda dan rheostat untuk menyesuaikan perlawanan di sirkuit untuk membatasi arus 1 ampere dengan hubung singkat elektroda , dan penurunan menghitung sirkuit dengan counter digital elektronik untuk menghitung jumlah tetes.
